Dr. Daniel Shein, MD, FAAOS

Orthopedic Surgeon

A fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons since 2019, Dr. Daniel Shein draws on experience at several of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions, including the Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Hospital, for his approach to orthopedic care. Dr. Shein balances his knowledge of the latest developments in orthopedic care with the patient-centered approach that has become a family tradition.

As an orthopaedic surgery resident at Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center, Dr. Shein co-authored an article on biomechanics of the knee and presented research on adjacent level disease of the cervical spine. He then went on to complete a fellowship in orthopaedic spine and scoliosis surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he was chief of his spine fellowship class.

While at HSS, Dr. Shein conducted research on the biomechanical relationship between the spine, pelvis, hips, knees and ankles, which he has presented at national and international conferences. He also completed a fellowship under world-renowned surgeon Dr. Anthony K. Hedley at his eponymous orthopaedic institute in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was groomed to perform muscle sparing total hip and total knee replacement surgery. He was additionally trained to perform robotic-assisted total hip and total knee replacements.

He earned his medical degree from the New York State/American program of Tel-Aviv University in Israel in 2010, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 2005.

Since his early childhood, Dr. Daniel Shein has been surrounded by orthopedic surgeons of the highest distinction. With the utmost respect for the history of orthopedics, and an unbridled enthusiasm to explore technological advancements in the field, his passion for orthopedic care is manifest in how he blends old, tried and true principles and techniques with new age perspectives and technology.
